Energy Star Training
This introductory course covers the basics of the Energy Star Program. You will learn how the house acts as a system and how to evaluate a building’s energy performance.
Increasing our nation's energy efficiency is the most environmentally friendly step a homeowner or organization could take toward becoming “green.” Energy auditing refers to an inspection of a home or commercial structure with an emphasis on reviewing current energy consumption and making recommendations on how to reduce that consumption. A well trained energy auditor helps homeowners save energy and money in the most cost-effective way. With abundant state and federal incentives everyone should and will want an energy audit of their home.
Topics include:
- What is an Energy Star home?
- Green building techniques
- Energy efficient building principles
- Energy conservation
- Requirements of the Energy Star program
Key Takeaways:
- The difference between an inefficient and efficient home is directly related to how well a house is built
- Construction techniques that do not require additional money but have a large impact on energy efficiency
- Familiarization with the largest “green” building program in the United States
- An understanding of how air moves through a building and what impact that has on comfort, health, and utility bills
