2. Streamlined project approach, with input on the current design (drawing review)/specifications, with 3-5 site meetings with your project team, strategies for bidding, ongoing project review, milestone reviews of the points, documentation & feedback to the team prior to and after application submittals, through completion of appeals & certification. This approach is streamlined and comprehensive, from start of the project to certification.

LEED Silver Project

  • Submitted by Jana Mobray (not verified) on Fri, 05/21/2010 - 10:57.
I am currently working on a project that is required to be LEED Silver Certifiable upon completion. I am the LEED Compliance Officer as well as a LEED Green Associate. This is my first LEED project and I could definitely use some assistance in getting my head wrapped around this process.

LEED consulting

    Hi,

I was wondering if you could offer any feedback as to how a person such as myself who kows how to draft and read architectural plans, ahas project managed residential construction and has a consulting/outside sales background can get the help/support to become a LEED consultant.

I am in graduate school right now studying sustainability within the domain of global leadership.

Please feel free to forward this to anyone whom you may feel is beneficial in having a conversation regarding this subject matter.

    Sincerely,

    Marcia Mark

Getting Started with LEED Consulting

  • Submitted by admin on Mon, 06/07/2010 - 11:14.
    Marcia,

Hello. If you wanted to become a LEED consultant, you will need to earn the LEED credentials as a start - I looked at your Linkedin and didn't see a LEED credential.

From there, I would recommend getting out and visiting as many LEED projects as you can - many offer tours of their site.

Additionally, if you know any facility managers or construction managers that can give you a tour and show you the documentation that would be great. You have get hands on with the documentation. The best ways to do that are to volunteer for a LEED projects - who do you know that is working on a project or, if you know anyone who owns a building, try to get them to pursue LEED EBOM. Once you start the process and get into the documentation requirements, you should then have the confidence to go out and work on other projects.

FEEDBACK REGARDING LEED

  • Submitted by ANTHONY ARAIZA, DIRECTOR DESIGN & CONSTRUCTION (not verified) on Thu, 06/24/2010 - 14:27.
The United States Green Building Council (USGBC) introduced the 2.0 version of the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) building rating system for commercial, institutional, and high-rise residential buildings in June 2000. LEED evaluates environmental performance from a "whole building" perspective over a building's life cycle. The program has grown tremendously since then by proving itself a viable method of providing a third-party green building certification tool designed to ensure building owners and occupants that their building meets stringent standards of performance.

The LEED Green Building Rating System for New Construction and Major Renovations (LEED-NC) is a points-based program that guides Architects through the design of an environmentally sound building. A LEED-NC building can achieve four different levels of certification based on the number of points obtained. The levels of certification available and corresponding LEED-NC points are:

    •LEED® Certified - 26 to 32 Points
    •LEED® Silver - 33 to 38 Points
    •LEED® Gold - 39 to 51 Points
    •LEED® Platinum - 52 to 69 Points
