The best place to be an Energy Auditor

Where is the best place to be an energy auditor? Anywhere in the country is a great place to be an energy auditor but the entire North East, upper mid-west, and the West coast are the BEST places.  Here are the factor that make them great:

1 - Extreme Climate.  Comfort is actually the number one reason that homeowners call an energy auditor.  In fact, most of what we teach about making a home more energy efficient is directly related to the heating and cooling of a home.

Got a home? Green upgrades available

Just heard this on NPR.  Short and very informative.  Here's the intro:

This week President Obama traveled to Savannah, Ga., to make the case for his "Home Star" initiative. Homeowners would get up to $3,000 worth of rebates for improvements like insulation and windows.

That could make a serious dent in the bill for home efficiency projects. But they still can be expensive. So, what to do?

5 Reasons to Opt Into LEED Credential Maintenance

Here are the top 5 reasons that I opted in for the CMP on LEED AP + BD&C:

1.  I have some learning opportunities this month, participating in a webinar and attending a LEED ND conference here in Long Island and I know that you don't get credit for any of those things unless you are already enrolled.  I did not want to let these opportunities pass me by.

Obama Pitches Home Star & Outlook for "Cap-and-Trade"

This posting is an email notification from The National SAVE Energy Coalition:

Location Efficient Mortgages - LEMs

I came accross this idea yesterday while looking at the green legislation currently in congress.  The Location Efficient Mortgage®‚ (LEM) is a mortgage that helps people become homeowners in location efficient communities. These are convenient neighborhoods in which residents can walk from their homes to stores, schools, recreation, and public transportation. People who live in location efficient communities have less need to drive, which allows them to save money and improves the environment for everyone.
